The Three Crowns

The Three Crowns ( Neapolitan Original: Le tre corone ) is a fairy tale. It is in Giambattista Basile's collection Pentamerone as the sixth story of the fourth day (IV, 6).

A voice is the childless king to choose from: A daughter taken from him, or a son who will spoil him. His councils opt for the daughter. Marchetta grows on sheltered until it is to be fed to her husband. Because she wears a storm to the house of a Orca ( ogress ). The old housekeeper leaves Marchetta brush, put on a feast and hide until the Orca swears by her three crowns to reward them. As she shows up and gets the house keys, only one chamber they must not open. She does it yet and thus awakens the three daughters of the Orca, which gives her a slap in the face with anger. There she goes, but is given a magic ring and men's clothes. The Queen of the Castle, where it begins as a page, makes her requests and then they slandered the king, she asked to sleep with her. As they were being led to the gallows, she saves the ring loud voice, "Let's go, she's a woman! " The king recognizes her as the friendly king's daughter and drowned his wife.
