The rebels of Liang Shan Po (Japanese水浒 伝, Suikoden ) is a television series that was produced on the occasion of his 20th anniversary of the Japanese Nippon TV stations.
The series was erstausgestrahlt 1973-1974 and came in 1980 to the German television. For reasons of protection of minors, however, different excessively violent scenes were cut from the episodes.
The series is based in the Sung dynasty in the 12th century in China and is based on the Chinese people Shuǐhǔ book Zhuan. Each of the rebels is a specific type of battle.
On August 27, 2008, the series was released in Japan on DVD, the original material was sampled new high dissolved.

Kao Chiou, a corrupt and ruthless henchman of the Emperor, the new commander of the imperial guard is. However, he will not be content with this office, but has higher goals ambitious: he wants the throne of the emperor for themselves. To this end, he spins numerous intrigues and streamlined as much as he can, money and relationships together. When he wants to plunder a temple for this purpose, it opens a sealed shrine, in which the souls were banished from 108 rebels from an earlier era, and which are thus exempt. And according to the prophecy, which is associated with this exemption and promises the rebirth of these fighters, resisting Kao Chious begins to rain soon ambitions.
Lin Chung, an honorable officer of the Imperial Guard in the capital, Kao Chiou for his honesty and his wife Hsiao Lan, Kao own desires, an eyesore. He dismisses Lin Chung from service in the Guard, later lures him nor an excuse in the palace, can arrest him and condemn to death. But the righteous judge Chian Sung ensured that the death penalty will be canceled; Instead, Lin Chung is sent to a prison camp.
On the way, Lin Chung is the overseer Lu Ta, the robber Chu Wu, the spirited Hu Sanjang and the nobles Shi Chin new allies, but refuses despite the injustice that has befallen him to flee. But only when Kao Chiou wants to murder him, Lin Chung escapes from the prison camp; and when his wife, who has since been desecrated by Kao, sacrifices himself in order to know him at liberty, Lin Chung finally joins the rebels who are fighting the marshy area of the river Liang Shan Po of the Imperial Guard. Gradually, the born-again freedom fighters gather around him and use that as a legendary army to fight against Kao Choius machinations on.
