The Theatre Academy Helsinki (Finnish: Teatterikorkeakoulu; schwed.: Teaterhögskolan ) is Finland's only university for the Performing Arts. The Theatre Academy Helsinki originated in 1979 from a merger of Suomen Svenska Teatterikoulu with the Teaterskolan.

Beginning of 2013 merged the Theatre Academy, together with the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki and the Sibelius Academy of Helsinki University of Arts.

Courses

The Teatterikorkeakoulu offers in the field of dance and theater at the best instruction in Finland and is also active in research in these areas. At the Theatre Academy, you can graduate with a Bachelor and Master's and doctorate in drama in Finnish and Swedish, as in drama, dance (dance and choreography ), stage equipment, as well as dance and theater education. Location

The premises of the Theatre Academy are located in the Haapaniemenkatu 6 (teak Kookos ) and in the Lintulahdenkatu 3 ( stage equipment, lighting and acoustics ) in the Helsinki district Sörnäinen. The buildings in the Haapaniemenkatu were taken in 2000 in operation, and the campus in the Lintulahdenkatu is used since the year 2007. The main buildings have acted sooner the soap and margarine factory in the Haapaniemenkatu and the elevator factory of the company " Kone ". In the premises there is a large auditorium for performances and a large specialized in performing arts library. The premises in the Lintulahdenkatu located in a former warehouse building of the company " Elanto ".
