Theodore S. Weiss

Theodore S. "Ted" Weiss ( born September 17, 1927 in Gávavencsellő, Hungary, † 14 September 1992 in New York City ) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1977 and 1992 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Theodore Weiss attended until 1938 the primary school in Hungary. At that time, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in South Amboy (New Jersey) down. He went to public schools and graduated in 1946 at the Hoffman High School. His Bachelor of Arts he made in 1961 at Syracuse University in 1952 and his Bachelor of Laws from there. After receiving his license to practice law in 1953, he began practicing in New York City. In the years 1946 and 1947 he served in the U.S. Army. He was naturalized in 1953 in the United States. Between 1955 and 1959 he held the post of Deputy District Attorney in New York County. Then he ran in New York City 1959-1976 his own law firm. During this time he was sitting in the 1962-1977 Council of New York City. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. As a delegate in 1962 he took part in the New York State Democratic Convention and 1972 at the Democratic National Convention in Miami Beach.

In the congressional elections of 1976 for the 95th Congress Weiss was in the 17th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Guy Molinari on January 4, 1977. He was re-elected seven times in a row, but died during his last term of office on September 14, 1992 in New York City.
