A hole in the bucket is a German folk and children's songs.

Construction

The song is constructed as a duet between a first demand without understanding the person, and a second patient person answering: In order to patch up the hole in the bucket, you need straw. Under the title of Heinrich and Liese is the song that probably originally handed down from the Hessian, in various textual, vernacular and melodic variations. It was often sung as a student song and in 1858 published in the Allgemeine Deutsche Kommersbuch.
