Thérèse Tietjens

Catherine Therese Tietjens Johanna (also Tietiens; born July 17, 1831 in Hamburg, † October 3, 1877 in London) was a German opera singer (soprano) and singing teacher.

Life

Therese Tietjens received her vocal training in Hamburg, where they at Altona City Theatre 1848 was her debut as Erma in Le Macon and it sang the title role in Donizetti's Lucrezia Borgia in the year. Her other engagements have taken her in 1850 in Frankfurt am Main, 1851 Brno and 1853 as a member of Kärntnertortheatre to Vienna, where she first sang Pamina in Mozart's Magic Flute.

In 1858, she came as a prima donna of the Italian Opera in London, where she made her debut as Valentine in Les Huguenots. Here she celebrated as a great success, so they made ​​England their second home and at the Royal Theatre ( " Her Majesty's Theatre " ) and sang at Covent Garden Opera. In addition, they often toured in the U.S., in Spain, in Italy, in France and in Germany (Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg).
