Theta Eridani
Acamar (also Akamar ) is the name of the star θ Eridani ( Theta Eridani ) in the constellation Eridanus. The name is derived from Arabic آخر النهر, DMG Ahir to - Nahr, the end of the river '.
Acamar is a double star, consisting of a 3.2 likes bright main star of spectral type A3, and a companion of spectral type A1 like the brightness 4.3. The angular separation of the two stars is 8.2 ", the companion relative to the main star occupies a position angle of 90 degrees. Acamar has a distance of about 160 light years (50 parsecs )
To resolve the system into single stars, one needs a telescope of at least 5 centimeters opening.
Mention in the science fiction
In Star Trek, a planet called Acamar III occurs, which is inhabited by the Acamarianern.
