This Way Up (film)

This Way Up is a British animated short film directed by Smith & Foulkes from the year 2008. The film experienced on April 25, 2008 in Austin 's premiere.

Action

The funeral of the family business company A.T. Shank & Son travel to a remote house where they pick up the corpse of an old woman. The father is grouchy prescribed for his work, while the son would love to hear, for example, while driving upbeat music - on the radio is currently running Happy Weekend by Ray Merrell, but the father turns off the music.

Both come to the villa and put the old woman in the coffin. You want to drive back to the city and to the cemetery. Due to an unfortunate chain reaction that began with the toppling of a cat image of the old lady, her car, however, crushed by a huge boulder. Both men are now running with the coffin back to the village. Always careful to keep the coffin and corpse without prejudice, they pass numerous misadventures - so the body falls out of the coffin several times - but in the end both end up in the cemetery. At the same moment they are hit by boulders.

They come in a kind of intermediate hell and take the now awakened the old lady in the coffin on a huge fiery red stream to a waterfall, but first begins the son gegenzurudern. As the father mitrudert, both get back to land. You climb a huge tower, which resembles that of Babylon, and eventually come back with the coffin to the cemetery. Here they bury the old lady properly. The father falls to the Son grateful to the neck. At the end of both jump enthusiastically into the raised coffin pit.

Awards

At the Ottawa International Animation Festival This Way Up won the 2008 Audience Award.

This Way Up in 2009 for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film " nomination, but could not prevail against Tsumiki no Ie itself.
