Thomas Christian Tychsen

Thomas Christian Tychsen ( born May 8, 1758 in Horsbull, Schleswig, † October 23, 1834 in Göttingen ) was a German orientalist.

Life

Tychsen studied in Kiel and Göttingen, then undertook a scientific journey through Germany, Italy, France and Spain. He was A.O. 1784 Professor of theology at the University of Göttingen, 1788 o.Professor of Oriental languages ​​and in 1797 a full member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences.

Tychsen was a member of the Göttingen Masonic Lodge Augusta to golden round.

His excellent beauty and talents daughter Cecilia (died 1812 at the age of 18 years) sang the poet Ernst Schulze in the eponymous epic poem.
