Thomas Forrest

Thomas Forrest ( * 1747 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, † March 20, 1825 in German Town, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1819 and 1823 he represented two times the state of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Thomas Forrest attended the public schools of his home. Between 1776 and 1781 he took part in the War of Independence. He rose to lieutenant colonel. Through its activities in the years to give the sources inconclusive. Politically, he was a member of the Federalist Party.

In the congressional elections of 1818 Forrest was in the second electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Adam Seybert on March 4, 1819. Until March 3, 1821 he was able to complete a term in Congress. During this time he was chairman of the Agriculture Committee, founded at that time. Following the resignation of his successor, William Milnor Forrest was again chosen as his successor in Congress, where he finished the current legislative period between October 8, 1822 and March 3, 1823. In 1822 he was not re-elected. He died on March 20 in 1825 in German Town, now part of Philadelphia.
