William Milnor

William Milnor ( born June 26, 1769 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, † December 13, 1848 in Burlington, New Jersey ) was an American politician. Between 1807 and 1822 he represented several times the state of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Milnor enjoyed an academic training and then worked in Philadelphia in the trade. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Federalist Party, a political career. In the congressional elections of 1806 he was a candidate of his party in the second electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Frederick Conrad on March 4, 1807. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1811 two legislative sessions. From 1809 to 1811 he was chairman of the Committee on Accounts.

Between 1815 and 1817, and again from 1821 to 1822 Milnor took the first district of his state in Congress. On 8 May 1822, he resigned from his mandate. In the years 1829 and 1830 he was mayor of Philadelphia. He died on December 13, 1848 in Burlington.
