John Conard

John Conard (* November 1773 in Chester Valley, Chester County, Pennsylvania, † May 9, 1857 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1813 and 1815 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Conard attended the Friends School and moved around the year 1795 by German Town. After a subsequent study of law and qualifying as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. In addition, he taught at a school in German Town mathematics. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic- Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1812, he was the first electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of James Milnor on March 4, 1813. Since he resigned in 1814 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1815. This was marked by the events of the British -American War.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives John Conard was Associate District Judge. Subsequently he served until 1831 as U.S. Marshal for the Eastern part of the state Pennsylvania. Around the year 1834 he moved to Cecil County, Maryland, where he lived until 1851. He spent his final years in Philadelphia; where he died on May 9, 1857.
