Thomas Geitner

Thomas Geitner ( born March 14, 1955 in Heidenheim ) is a German manager.

Career

After graduation in Aalen, 1974 and military service Thomas Otto Geitner studied at the Technical University of Munich and received his degree in mechanical engineering in 1982 and his MBA at the European Institute of Business Management at Fontainebleau.

Until 1991 Geitner worked at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG as Head of Production and Technology. In 1992 he moved as a board member for Leybold AG, to lead the division Vacuum components in Cologne. He was CEO of two daughters RWE Rhein Elektra and Lahmeyer, whose merger, he brought about the end of 1995. He subsequently joined the Executive Board of RWE AG, where he was responsible for the engineering and the telecommunication business since 1997. On 15 July 1998 he was head of the telecom company o.tel.o., which was acquired the following year by Mannesmann Arcor.

After the takeover battle of Mannesmann by Vodafone in 2000 Geitner joined the International Executive Board of the British mobile phone company Vodafone Group PLC, where he was responsible for transnational projects.
