Thomas Henzinger

Thomas Henzinger ( born December 8, 1962 in Linz) is an Austrian computer scientist. He is the first president of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria.

Career

Henzinger graduated in July 1987 from his computer science degree at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, after he had back in 1986 earned a MS degree from the University of Delaware. In 1991 he received his doctorate at Stanford University.

After a stay at the University of Grenoble 1992-1996 he was an Assistant Professor at Cornell University. 1996-2005 he was at UC Berkeley and there rose to full professor. 1999-2000 he was the director at the Max Planck Institute for computer science in Saarbrücken.

Since 2004 he is Professor of Computer and Communication Sciences at EPFL in Lausanne ( Switzerland ).

In December 2008 he was appointed the first president of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria. He entered this post on September 1, 2009.

Thomas Henzinger is married to Monika Henzinger and has three children.
