Thomas Jeier

Thomas Jeier ( born April 24, 1947 in Minden ) is a German writer who was known primarily for youth novels and travelogues.

Life

Thomas Jeier grew up in Frankfurt am Main. Already as a student he wrote magazine articles and dime novels. After completing his apprenticeship as a bookseller, he worked from 1972 as a freelance writer and was also active as an editor in a publishing house. One of his first works, The Great Gold Rush of Alaska was in 1974 awarded the prestigious Friedrich Gerstäcker price.

In many travels he gained excellent knowledge of the U.S. and the local Indian tribes. A good portion of his best historical novels for young people playing on the North American continent and deals with the lives of Indians. In addition, he has published numerous travel reports, often with photographer Christian Heeb. In 2002, he wrote under the pseudonym " Christopher Ross " adventure novels for adults who also play in North America. 2004, his novel was a dream you had nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize.

In the German country music scene Jeier has made a name. For 20 years he hosted the Bayerischer Rundfunk radio show Country Club. He also wrote several books about the genre. He is one of the few Germans who have direct contacts with the Nashville scene. From the American CMA, the principal trade association for the country music, he was rewarded for his services with an International Award.

Thomas Jeier published over 100 novels and nonfiction. His works have been translated into several languages ​​and won several prizes.
