Thomas Roe

Sir Thomas Roe (c. 1581; † November 6, 1644 ) was an English diplomat.

Life

After studying at Oxford, he was Esquire of Queen Elizabeth I of England. In 1605 he was defeated by King James I. knighted. He accompanied the Princess Elizabeth Stuart, who had married the Elector Frederick V of the Palatinate (also known as the " Winter King " of Bohemia ), on her bridal journey to Heidelberg. 1615-1618 Roe was an ambassador of the English King at the Mughal court in India and tried to close commercial contracts there. Due to its good relationship with Jahangir, he managed a commercial treaty with extensive freedoms for the British East India Company to obtain.

After Thomas Roe Roes Welcome Sound, the strait was named in the northwest of Hudson Bay.
