Thomas Woodcock (officer of arms)

Thomas Woodcock, CVO, FSA, DL ( born 1951 ) is an English jurist, genealogist and heraldry. Since April 1, 2010, he is as Garter Principal King of Arms Head of the College of Arms in London.

Career

His school career began Woodcock at the prestigious Eton College. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Durham and his Bachelor of Laws at Darwin College, University of Cambridge. He then joined the Bar of the Inner Temple in London.

His heraldic career began in 1975 as a research associate of the then Garter Principal King of Arms Sir Anthony Wagner. In 1978 he was appointed Rouge Croix Pursuivant, and in 1982 to Somerset Herald. Woodcock held this post until his appointment as Norroy and Ulster King of Arms on 29 April 1997. Effective April 1, 2010, he was appointed Garter Principal King of Arms and thus senior herald of England.

Orders, Awards and Affiliations

Woodcock since 1996 Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order ( LVO ). In December 2005, Thomas Woodcock Deputy Lord Lieutenant for the county of Lancashire. He is a member of the Society of Antiquaries of London, and since 1998 the Roxburghe Club, the oldest bibliophile clubs in the world. In the birthday Very List 2011 he was appointed Commander of the Royal Victoria Order CVO appointed.
