Thomas Zipp

Thomas Zipp (born 1966 in Heppenheim on the mountain road ) is a German painter and plastic artists and musicians. He lives and works in Berlin.

Life

1992 to 1998 he studied with Thomas Bayrle at the Städel School in Frankfurt am Main and at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. He lives and works in Berlin since then. 2006/2007 Zipp was a visiting professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, since 2008 he is a professor of painting at the University of Arts in Berlin. He has published several illustrated books and exhibited his works in numerous international exhibitions also. Including " Artforum Berlin" in New York, as well as in Wolfsburg. Zipp's exhibitions were held, inter alia, in London, Glasgow and Copenhagen, as well as Gstaad, Berlin and California.

Until the 1990s Zipp played drums, among others in the punk band The Swunk, which he founded with two former friends. The band released several productions, but was never commercially successful. Together with the artist Felix Weber 2000 he founded the music group NaziHipiWelt that calls itself since 2006 DA. The band split in 2011 on DA in DA ( with SCHLOCKMASTER ) and DA- EAT ( jam sessions with musicians at the changing exhibitions of Thomas Zipp ).

As a visiting professor he taught in 2005/ 06 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. Since 2008 Zipp is a professor of painting and multimedia at the University of Arts in Berlin.
