Thorns is a Norwegian metal band.
Biography
Snorre ' Blackthorn ' Ruch and Marius Vold founded the Black Metal band stigma Diabolicum, which started a demo in the winter of the same year, in the summer of 1989. 1990 joined with Harald Eilertsen as bassist and Bård "Faust" Eithun as a drummer. Because of the increasing use of Latin names in Black Metal band in 1991 changed its name to Thorns. In the same year Eilertsen and Ruch took released under the new name with Grymyrk the first demo. In this early phase of Thorns coined next to Mayhem the typical Norwegian black metal riffing, which goes back to Ruch and Mayhem guitarist Øystein " Euronymous " Aarseth and the Fenriz of Darkthrone the actual beginning of the " New School Black Metal" sieht.Aufgrund the geographical distance could rarely rehearse the members. Some of the samples were recorded on the cassette. In a studio in a school Trøndertun the demo was recorded in 1992. After Snorre Ruch has been released early from prison, in 1999 there were a new sign of life from Thorns in the form of a Emperor-/Thorns-Split-CD with songs from the first demo. Two years later the first album Thorns. The album appeared beside Sigurd "Satyr " Wongraven ( Satyricon ) and Bjørn " Aldrahn " Dencker ( Dodheimsgard ) and the Mayhem drummer January Axel " Hellhammer " Blomberg. This album contains influences of Industrial Metal, and also the content is Ruch with Thorns since his release entirely new ways, so that a categorization of the band is no longer possible as Black Metal. On Lurkerspath Thorns ' debut with Satyricon Rebel Extravaganza was compared.
Snorre Ruch has been working for some time with the artist Bjarne Melgaard together; so used Melgaard, for example for an exhibition the Thorns Song Interface to God and created next to the Emperor-/Thorns-Split the album Thorns. He also assisted in writing the Satyr published in 2008, Satyricon album The Age of Nero. 13 September 2008 Ruch announced a new album.
