Rebel Extravaganza is the fourth studio album by the Norwegian black metal band Satyricon. It was re- released in 2006 by Nuclear Blast with bonus songs from the Intermezzo EP.

Formation

The long pause between the release of Nemesis Divina and Rebel Extravaganza founded Satyr with the fact that a good album need a lot of time for the sample or recording of the songs.

During recording, the band wanted to achieve an " organic sound " according to Satyr raised a number of criticisms in Norwegian newspapers that also produced.

Style and content

The title describes the " musical and lyrical concept and also reflects the general attitude of Satyricon ", although he was a spontaneous idea, according to Satyr.

The style of Rebel Extravaganza represents a departure from the current style of the band and has influences from several other genres. Unlike the previous albums of the band, the keyboard is used very subtly. The drum is played very precise.

Reception

The album " pushing the boundaries " of Black Metal, even if it was rejected by large parts of the scene. One reviewer praises the introduction of new ideas and complex song structures, while Leslie Mathew of Allmusic found that everyone who is not required to automatically wanders while listening.
