Thurible#Boat boy

The Navikular (from Latin naviculum " boat ") is an acolyte carrying a Weihrauchschiffchen. He accompanied the Thuriferar carrying the censer. If necessary, he hands the priest the boat when this incense wants to appeal, or sets himself incense or coal to.

Inserting or hanging up is necessary before any Inzens. For this, the Thuriferar and Navikular go to the celebrant, the Thuriferar opens the thurible, the Navikular opens the keel. Then the celebrant takes the spoon out of the shuttle and gives a little incense on the hot coals. Then the Thuriferar the censer closes again and hands it to the priest (or deacon ) for Inzens. Sometimes the Navikular also sets itself incense for example, while the priest says the Eucharistic Prayer.

Incense can in principle be used in each Holy Mass. Most comes incense in the high office of the solemnities, in Eucharistic processions and Eucharistic adoration, funerals or in the solemn liturgy of the hours, especially at Vespers, is used. The following services provided Navikular and Thuriferar the Holy Mass:
