The Corsican Thyme (Thymus herba - barona ) is a species of the genus of wild thyme (Thymus ) in the mint family.

Description

The Corsican Thyme is a small shrub whose woody prostrate to ascending, creeping stems. Non - flower-bearing stems are missing, the flower-bearing stems are 5-10 cm long and are hairy all around. The leaves are 6-9 mm long and 2-4 mm wide. They are elliptic to rhombic- ovate, stalked, pointed forward, herbaceous and provided with flat to slightly rolled back edges. They are glabrous or finely pubescent and ciliated at the base. The leaf veins are unremarkable.

The inflorescences are almost little head shaped and loose, the lowest Scheinwirtel are occasionally away from something. The bracts similar to the leaves. The calyx is 3-5 mm long. The upper teeth are up to 1.5 mm long, slightly longer than broad and scaly, but not ciliated. The crown is up to 9 mm long and pale purple.

Occurrences and locations

The species is found in Corsica and Sardinia.
