Thyrsus González de Santalla

Thyrsus González, gelegentl. also Tirso González de Santalla, ( born January 18, 1624 in Arganda, Spain, † October 27, 1705 in Rome) was the 13th General of the Society of Jesus.

Life

On March 3, 1643 González joined with 29 years of the Society of Jesus. After studying and training in the Order, he worked in the years 1655 to 1665 as a lecturer in philosophy and theology at the University of Salamanca.

Then he was over 15 years as a preacher on a mission of his order between Spain and Italy. González returned in 1676 as a lecturer at the University of Salamanca back. He held until 1687 this office.

As the 12th Superior General Charles de Noyelle on December 12, 1686, died, the General Assembly on July 6, 1687 González for the 13th General of the Order.

On October 27, 1705 Thyrsus González died at 81 years and was succeeded by Michelangelo Tamburini.
