Tiana Lemnitz

Tiana Luise Lemnitz ( born October 26, 1897 in Metz, † February 5, 1994 in Berlin) was a German soprano. Lemnitz received her vocal training at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt am Main. In 1922 she was engaged by the Stadttheater Aachen, then it belonged to the ensemble of the city theater in Hanover. Since 1931, she has also performed at the Dresden Opera, whose ensemble she belonged from 1933 to 1934.

After the " seizure of power" of the Nazis, it was on May 1, 1933 member of the NSDAP (member number 2955384 ). In 1934 she came to the Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden; they should remain loyal over two decades. Lemnitz quickly became one of the stars of the ensemble and was considered the embodiment of the lyric soprano. In 1937 she was appointed by Adolf Hitler Kammersängerin. In 1943, she appeared in the feature film Old Heart is young and in the Opera movie night without parting with again. In the final stages of World War II she took Hitler in August 1944, prior to the planned closure of the theaters on September 1, in the Gottbegnadeten list of major artists, which saved her from a war effort, even on the home front.

1953 Tiana Lemnitz became director of the opera studio of the Berlin State Opera. Your last appearance was in 1957 also at the Staatsoper. After her time as an active singer Lemnitz formed as a singing teacher from the next generation.
