Tibareni

The Tibarener ( gr Τιβαρηνοί, lat Tibareni ) were a Scythian (according to ancient scholia ) tribe on the south coast of Pontos Euxeinos above the Cape Genetaia. They engaged in animal husbandry and apply in addition to Chalybern and other peoples as the inventor of metal processing. Apollonius reported ( Arg 2.1011 to 1014 ) that the Tibarener practiced the rite of couvade. According to Pliny painted or tattooed their bodies.

Along with the neighboring Moschern, macro agents, Mossynoikern and MarErn they formed the 19th satrapy of the Persian Empire. At the Persian wars they took, armed with wooden helmets, shields, and spears, under the leadership of Ariomardos part.
