Tibor Klampár

Tibor Klampar [ tibor klɒmpa ː r] ( born April 30, 1953) is a Hungarian table tennis player. In the 1970s, he was one of the best players in the world. He is a two time World Champion. Klampar is generally considered in table tennis professional circles as the inventor of the special technique of speed glueing.

National success

Klampar was 1969-1985 25 times Hungarian champion, namely 9 times in singles, 11 times in a double and five times in the mixed doubles. He played in this time in the club Spartacus Budapest.

International success

1966 Klampar European Cadet Champion. At the World Championships he won the gold medal twice, in 1971 in a double with István Jonyer and 1979 with the Hungarian team. With Jonyer it was still 1973 and 1979 Vice World Champion in doubles, in 1981, he won the team silver.

1978 and 1982 he was with Hungary Europe - Team Champion, European Champion in 1974 with Jonyer in doubles. In 1981, he won the tournament Europe TOP - 12th

Ending the career

From the mid- 1980s played Klampar with various Austrian clubs in the State League A: 1985-1988 with UTTC Römerquelle Langenlois 1988 to 1998 and 2001 at Union Wolkersdorf Lavamünd. In 1988, he surprised everyone with a comeback when he was fourth in the individual at the Olympic Games.

Private

Klampar has a brother ( József ), he is married. He has a son and a daughter named Tibor Ildiko. His nephew Andras Podpinka is a strong Belgian national team.

2005, his son went to the German Bayern league with Bad Altitude Town.
