Mongolian linden (Tilia mongolica )

The Mongolian linden (Tilia mongolica ) is a plant in the mallow family ( Malvaceae ). Their home is Mongolia and northern China.

Description

Tilia mongolica is medium-sized tree, reached the stature heights of up to 10 m. The bark is gray. The egg-shaped buds are smooth. The stalked leaves are simple. The petiole is 2 to 3.5 cm long. The glossy leaves are red in bud and later take a deep green coloring. Notwithstanding the form of the more well-known Linde species the leaves of the Mongolian Linde are deeply lobed and cut the edge. The leaf blade is 4 to 6 × 3.5 to 5.5 cm in size.

Six to twelve flowers are borne in a zymösen inflorescence, which is about 5 to 8 cm in size. The sepals are 4-5 mm in size. The petals are 6-7 mm in size. The stamens are 4-5 mm long. The staminodes are slightly shorter. The ovary is hairy and the pen is smooth.

The typical shaped fruits are comparatively small. Often pentagonal fruit have a diameter of 6-8 mm.
