The Tilikum

The Tilikum is a converted dugout, with the German - Canadian ship's carpenter John Clauss Voss and Norman Luxton his companion until 1904 did a world tour in 1901. It was considered at that time as the smallest sailing vessels, with such a journey was undertaken. Later, after the completion of the journey went on the boat in the possession of the Maritime Museum of British Columbia in Victoria.

Description

Voss earned the dugout by Indians on Vancouver Iceland. Before the voyage around the world he built a deck and a raised strakes on the vehicle and provided it with three masts. This consisted of a jib sail, two gaff sails and a spanker. The depth of the Tilikum was 61 inches aft and forward 53 inches.
