Till Fellner

Till Fellner ( born March 9, 1972 in Vienna) is an Austrian pianist.

Biography

Till Fellner studied at the Vienna Conservatory with Helene Sedo -Stadler. Further studies led him to Alfred Brendel, Meira Farkas, Oleg Maisenberg and Claus- Christian Schuster. In 1993 he won the first prize at the Clara Haskil Competition in Vevey ( Switzerland ). In 1998 he received the Mozart Interpretation Prize of the Mozart city of Vienna.

Till Fellner's repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the present. In particular he is known for his interpretations of the music of JS Bach, WA Mozart, L. van Beethoven, F. Schubert and Franz Liszt. But he has also been used for musical rarities such as the remarkable Piano Sonata by Julius Reubke. Fellner has premiered works by Thomas Larcher and Harrison Birtwistle.

As a chamber musician Fellner regularly works with tenor Mark Padmore, violinist Lisa Batiashvili and cellist Adrian Brendel.

2008-10 led Fellner the 32 piano sonatas by L. v. Beethoven in a seven-part series of concerts in Vienna, London, Paris, New York, Washington DC and Tokyo on. He has received, among others, the Piano Concertos Nos. 4 and 5 of L. v. Beethoven with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Kent Nagano.

2009, Fellner an appearance in the award- winning documentary of the two directors Lilian Franck and Robert Cibis PianoMania. The film was well received nationally and internationally, was celebrated at many festivals and included in the catalog of the Goethe -Institut.

From September 2013 Fellner will be teaching at the Zurich University of the Arts.
