Tillamook is a small town and the county seat of Tillamook County in the U.S. state of Oregon with 4476 inhabitants ( 2004).

The city is located at the southeastern end of the bay Tillamook Bay on the Pacific Ocean. It was named after the indigenous people of the Tillamook, a tribe of the Salish, named.

History

In 1788, anchored under Captain Robert Gray first time an American ship in the Tillamook Bay. The settlement of the later town Tillamook began in 1851, the first store opened in 1862.; of 1866, when a post office was established, the town was finally called Tillamook.
