Tim Buck

Tim Buck (born 6 January 1891 in Beccles, United Kingdom, † March 11, 1973 ) was a Canadian politician.

Buck, who emigrated in 1910 to Canada, headed from 1929 to 1962, the Communist Party of Canada. As a supporter of Stalin in 1929, he replaced the rather Trotskyist -oriented leadership of the party. 1931 Buck was arrested and condemned on suspicion of treason. After his release from prison in 1934, he won in Winnipeg more than 25 % of the votes in the general election of 1935. Though he retired in 1962 from the presidency of the party, Buck kept until his death in 1973, a significant position in the Communist Party of Canada.
