Timothy Peake

Timothy Nigel Peake ( born April 7, 1972 in Chichester, West Sussex ) is a British test pilot and member of the European Astronaut Corps.

The school ended Timothy 1990 at the Chichester High School for Boys, and joined the Army Air Corps at. His military training took place at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. After graduating in 1992, he served as a platoon commander in the Royal Green Jackets Infantry Division and served in Northern Ireland. In 1994, he received his pilot's license. He served in various units from now on as a helicopter pilot and then in 1998 helicopter flight instructor. To test pilots he left in 2005 to train at the Empire Test Pilots School. After 17 years ended Timothy 2009, his time in the military and became a test pilot for the company AgustaWestland, where he mainly flew helicopter types Apache and Lynx. Timothy Peake is a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.

In the selection of the ESA itself Peake won against 8413 other entrants and was presented on 20 May 2009 as the new ESA astronauts to the public. His training at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) in Cologne began Timothy Peake the beginning of September 2009. The official completion of basic training and the appointment of the astronauts took place on November 22, 2010 at an official ceremony at the EAC in Cologne.

In June 2012, Peake spent twelve days in the NASA NEEMO underwater laboratory.

On 20 May 2013, the ESA announced that Peake will spend from November or December 2015 for about five months on the ISS.

Peake is married and has a son.
