Tina May

Tina May ( born March 30, 1961 in Gloucester) is a British jazz singer.

Tina May grew up in Frampton -on- Severn, where she attended Stroud High Grammar School. She was married to the drummer Clark Tracey, who has worked on several of her albums, which she recorded for 33 Records. Her accompanists included, inter alia, Tony Coe, Alec Dankworth, Mick Hutton and Nikki Iles. As Gastvokalistin she also worked in 1994 with Michael Hashim (Transatlantic Airs ) and 2000 for the album Ellington 's Sacred Music with the Stan Tracey Jazz Orchestra and the Durham Cathedral Choir.

The authors Richard Cook and Brian Morton called Tina May as one of the most important British jazz singer; they emphasize particularly her 2004 arisen with Coe and Iles Album More than You Know.
