Tiroler Museumsbahnen

The association Tyrolean Museum Railways ( TMB) takes care of the maintenance and / or documentation of historically valuable local railways Tyrol and their rolling stock.

History

After 1983, now finally became apparent that the 79 years old railcar of Stubaitalbahn should be parked, was founded in May of the same year, the club of " Tyrolean Museum Railways " with the aim to get these historically valuable vehicles for posterity. Saw it first not very good for an accommodation of the club, so was thanks to some advocates in the policy, such as, inter alia, the then mayor Niescher, the former draw plants and part of the Stubaital station ( waiting room and car service line ) are obtained for the club. In the early summer of 1985 was the Localbahnmuseum be opened. To make room for other cars, most of the sidecar Stubaitalbahn were first loaned and then sold. So already have a 1986 Igls Igls railcars and some motorcycles and some freight cars Stubaitalbahn be added to the collection. 1989 was the first vehicle - freight wagons of 32 Stubaitalbahn - restored in its original state. To date ( end of 2012 ) There are 17 other cars - partly on delivery - worked operative, and moreover, a few more vehicles have already been adopted operational. 1991 was celebrated together with the Innsbruck transport companies, the 100th anniversary of the tram Innsbruck. Around the turn of the millennium around the now become dilapidated carriage house was renovated in the year 1903. In 2000 in Innsbruck and the surrounding communities, the 100th anniversary of Innsbruck's central mountain railway and celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Stubai Valley Railway in 2004. In October 2008, the 25th anniversary of the Tyrolean Museum Railways with the active participation of the country and the city of Innsbruck in Tyrol policy could be celebrated.

The Localbahnmuseum

The local railway museum is housed in the former railway station at the foot of the Stubai Valley Bergisels, near the present depot of public transportation services. It was opened in 1985 after the Stubaital train was converted to DC and the rooms of the car service line and the waiting room were no longer needed. Since then, the local railway museum for train enthusiasts from around the world has developed into a tourist attraction and is well frequented. In summer travels regularly a historic train set in the city to bring tourists to the museum. The exhibition includes the following local railways:

These annual special exhibitions are held about the individual regional trains and some publications that deal with current issues launched.

The vehicle collection

The car collection is housed in the old coach house of Stubaitalbahn in Innsbruck. Involving the collection in 1983 only parked vehicles of Stubaitalbahn, was extended the collection over time. Vehicles of other local railways were purchased and brought to Innsbruck ( back ). Thus, the collection included the end of 2012 about 25 vehicles (11 locomotives, 10 sidecar, 5 freight cars, 1 snow bend ) of four local lanes and a tram service:

The collection includes some of unique vehicles, so there is, among others, the only workable gear locomotive Rittnerbahn at the TMB, and also the first single-phase AC motor coaches can be found here. Most of the vehicles are over 100 years old and some have been restored in their delivery status. A special feature of this collection is that almost all vehicles are operational.
