Tiszatardos

Tiszatardos is a Hungarian town in Borsod- Abaúj -Zemplén.

Geographical Location

Tiszatardos is located in north -eastern Hungary, 54 kilometers from the county capital Miskolc, on the banks of the Tisza river.

History

Tiszatardos was first mentioned as Tardos 1395. A first church was built in 1736, a parsonage in 1744. In 1749 then, the Roman Catholic parish of Tiszatardos was founded. In 1777 the rectory burned down, which was built a year later. In 1813 the present church was completed Szentháromság. In 1936 it was renovated and enlarged.

Population

In 2011 the village had 226 inhabitants. 96 % of the inhabitants are Hungarians and 4% identify themselves as Roma.

Transport links

Tiszatardos can be reached on a side road which leads from Szerencs about Prügy and Csobaj after Tiszatardos and on to Tiszaladány and Tokaj. A bus line connects Tiszatardos on this road with Szerencs and Tokaj, and thus ensures the village with a connection to the public transport. Another side road leads over the Tisza after Tiszalök. However, this compound is only possible during the day, as the Theiss must be crossed by a ferry which runs of 6 clock to sunset.
