To the family of limestone spiders ( Titanoecidae ) include 46 species worldwide in five species. The family is still very much in motion; more first descriptions and tranfers are very likely especially in southern Europe. Their occurrence in many regions is considered unsafe. Probably not least because of the rudimentary state of scientific descriptions they are rarely detected and apparently undescribed in their ecology.

Limestone spiders are medium-sized, hairy yellow brown to dark brown to reddish brown, and velvety. They weave cribellate nets near the ground and under stones. They are usually on sunny slopes of the mountains; found and seem to prefer warm and dry locations ( Carpathians, Balkans, Alps hence the name).

The species richest genus is Titanoeca that of the sinister spider ( Amaurobiidae ) was cleaved and that is spread throughout Asia and Europe. In Europe, so far nine species of this genus were detected. Nurscia is the second species occurring in Central Europe. She is represented by two species. Anuvinda has so far been detected only in India, Goeldia in South America, Central America, Mexico and the Pandava in China to Sri Lanka.
