Ludwig Carl Christian Koch

Ludwig Carl Christian Koch ( born November 8, 1825 Regensburg, † November 1, 1908 in Nuremberg ) was a German entomologist and Arachnologe (insects and spiders researchers ).

Ludwig Carl Christian Koch was the son of the famous arachnologists Carl Ludwig Koch ( 1778-1857 ). He studied law at the University of Erlangen, before 1847 the medicine and the natural sciences turned to. In the same year he joined the Zoological and Mineralogical Club at Regensburg. In 1851 he received his doctorate, in 1853, he worked in the district of Nuremberg Wöhrd as a general practitioner.

He is regarded as one of the four most important representatives of insects and spiders customer in the second half of the 19th century and described alongside native species, for example, arachnids from the Mediterranean, from Asia ( Siberia, Japan) and Australia. The species described by him are donated by L. Koch. This work as a specialist researcher in the field of spiders brought him as Spider cook a worldwide reputation. Later, Koch was predominantly concerned with conches.
