Tito Gómez (Puerto Rican singer)

Tito Gómez ( born April 9, 1948 in Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico, † June 11, 2007 in Cali, Colombia), Luis Alberto Gómez actually, was a famous Puerto Rican salsa singer.

Career

Tito Gómez started at the age of 15 years for the group Conjunto Antoanetti to sing before he could enter 1967 in the combo Sonora Ponceña as an accompanying lead singer. He then held together with Ruben Blades singing in a formation newly founded by Ray Barretto. Out for two years he returned to Sonora Ponceña until he went to Venezuela in 1979. Tito Gómez worked there together for a while with La Amistad, a band composed of former members of the group La Latina Dimensión. 1982 Gómez returned back to Puerto Rico and worked as a solo musician. From 1985 to 1993 Tito Gomez lived in Cali, Colombia, and had a very successful time as the lead singer of Grupo Niche. In 1990, he again began a solo career, lived in Miami / Florida and brought the album "Un Nuevo Horizonte " with the hit single " Dejala " on the market. 2000 ended his musical career early because he was arrested for transporting counterfeit money and had to serve a prison sentence in a federal prison. After his release, Gómez tried a comeback in 2004. During a tour with Grupo Niche, he died on 11 June 2007 of a heart attack in Cali. Among his greatest hits include songs like " Déjala ", " Guararé ", " Página de Amor ", " Déjame volver ", " Amor de Papel ", " Ganas " and Nuestro secreto.
