Tlalnepantla is a major city in the southeast of the Mexican state of México. It is situated at 2250 meters above sea level, lies on the northern border of the Federal District of the capital, Mexico City in the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México. The Municipio Municipio Tlalnepantla de Baz, whose main town is Tlalnepantla, yet includes not only the city the place Tepeolulco Puerto Escondido with 10,717 inhabitants and other smaller settlements. Tlalnepantla is the seat of the Archdiocese of Tlalnepantla.

History

Tlalnepantla originated after the Spanish conquest through the merger of Chichimeca tribes and the Otomi tribes. The city was chartered Tlalnepantla 1848 Again and again, the city name was additives. 1861, the additional de Galeana was appended, in honor of the resistance fighter Hermenegildo Galeana, 1874 de Comonfort as a reminder of the General Ignacio Comonfort and 1978 which eventually Municipio de Baz as a reminder of the politician Gustavo Baz Prada. The modern official name of the city is simply Tlalnepantla
