Tlaxcala, Tlaxcala

Tlaxcala, Tlaxcala officially de Xicohténcatl, in Nahuatl Tlaxcallan (formed from tlaxcalli, " something baked " and assimilated Lokativsuffix tlan, " place of bread or tortillas " ) is a town in the central Mexican highlands, with about 73,000 inhabitants and is located in the same State. The San Francisco Church in the town center was consecrated in 1521 and is the oldest of the American continent.

Tlaxcala was the political center of the enemy with the Aztecs, Tlaxcalans, who played a key role in the Spanish conquest of Mexico.
