Tod Papageorge

Tod Papageorge ( born 1940 in Portsmouth (New Hampshire) ) is an American photographer who has emerged mainly with street photographs.

Papa George started photography during the last semester of his literary studies at the University of New Hampshire. In 1970, he received two Guggenheim fellowships. About the same time he began teaching. Since 1979 he is a professor at Yale University; he was head of the graduate program in photography, Philip -Lorca diCorcia, Lois Conner, Abelardo Morell, Andrew Bush, Susan Lipper, Gregory Crewdson, An - My Le, Anna Gaskell and Katy Grannan visited.

His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, including in Europe. Works by Papa George, who was also promoting the National Endowment for the Arts were collected from the Museum of Modern Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. He has published several books of his photographs. Also caught up with him Carla Bley as a spokesperson to the recordings of Escalator over the Hill.
