Tolima Department

The Departamento del Tolima is a province in the center of Colombia. Starting from the north clockwise, it is surrounded by the provinces of Caldas, Cundinamarca, Huila, Valle del Cauca, Quindio and Risaralda.

The economy is based on agriculture and livestock. Crops are rice, sorghum, cotton, coffee and fruit. The few industrial processed agricultural products.

The Natural Park of Las Hermosas and Parque de los Nevados are tourist attractions.

1964 was founded in Tolima, the FARC.

2007 here a huge, possibly the world's largest gold deposit was discovered, is now working on its development under high pressure.
