Tom Chambers (basketball)

Thomas Doane Chambers ( born June 21, 1959 in Ogden, Utah ) is a retired American professional basketball player. Between 1981 and 1998 he played for the 76ers in the NBA teams in the San Diego Clippers, Seattle SuperSonics, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, Charlotte Hornets and Philadelphia. Chambers is 2,08 m tall and played on the position of power forward. He was the first player who joined the club as a free agent ( in 1988 by the Sonics to the Suns).

During his time with the SuperSonics and Sun's Chambers was one of the best forwards in the league. He was four times appointed to the NBA All- Star Game (1987, 1989, 1990 and 1991). In 1987 he was elected Most Valuable Player of the All- Star Games. He also was twice All- NBA Second Team (1989, 1990).

In 1993, Chambers with the stars Charles Barkley and Kevin Maurice Johnson at the Phoenix Suns in a team. The Suns reached in that year the NBA Finals, but were subject to the Chicago Bulls.

At Chambers honor his jersey number 24 was retired by the Suns.
