Tom Friedman (artist)

Tom Friedman (born 1965 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American conceptual artist and sculptor. For his works he often uses everyday objects such as toothpicks or sugar cubes in geometric arrangements.

Friedman studied at Washington University in St. Louis and was bought in 1988 a bachelor's degree in graphic design and illustration. He then continued his studies at the University of Illinois in Chicago, where he in 1990 a master's degree in sculpture acquired.

His first solo exhibitions followed in the next year in the feature in New York City, at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in Winston- Salem, North Carolina and the Rezac Gallery, Chicago. Since then, he has, among other things exhibited in London, Rome, Geneva or Tokyo. A retrospective on Friedman's work " Tom Friedman: The Epic In The Everyday" was shown between 2000 and 2002 cities such as Tokyo, Chicago, San Francisco and Aspen.

2000 Tom Friedman was nominated for the Hugo Boss Prize.

Currently, Friedman lives in Leverett, Massachusetts in the West, surrounded by woods overlooking a lake in a house that he lives with his wife and their three children. At this retracted, green and peaceful place he created his works of art. Here he also composes music and writes books.
