Tom Robinson Band

The Tom Robinson Band was a British rock band that was popular in the 70s, in the wake of the punk movement.

The group was founded in January 1977 in London and was mainly for their political and socially critical texts ( similar to The Clash or trust) known. So the band for women's equality and for the rights of gays engaged as well as Amnesty International and against racism. Above all, the band leader Tom Robinson was the song Glad to be gay to an idol of the gay movement, he describes himself as bisexual.

The biggest commercial success of the band was the single 2-4-6-8 Motorway, which reached number 5 in the 1978 UK Singles Chart. Also number 5 on the charts was in the same year the debut album Power in the Darkness.

In 1979 the second album TRB2 which, however, both artistically and commercially failed to match its predecessor. Shortly after, the band broke up after the departure of Danny Kustov.
