The prehistory to Boston began in 1969, when Scholz as keyboardist of the band Mother's Milk by guitarist Barry Goudreau, Brad Delp, the singer († 2007) and drummer Jim Masdea joined. Although the band did not last long, Scholz began in his private recording studio in Wayland order to take up a series of demo tapes with self-written songs.
