Tomás Balduino

Tomás Balduino OP ( born December 31, 1922 in Posse ) is Emeritus Bishop of Goiás.

Life

Tomás Balduino joined the Congregation of the Dominicans and received on 4 July 1948, the ordination.

Paul VI. appointed him on 15 August 1967 to Koadjutorprälat of Santíssima Conceição do Araguaia and Titular Bishop of Vicus Pacati. The Apostolic Nuncio to Brazil Sebastiano Baggio consecrated him on 26 November of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were Alberto Ramos Gaudêncio, Archbishop of Belém do Pará, and Alain Hubert Antoine Marie Jean Roland you Noday OP, Bishop of Porto Nacional. In Brazil he is known as a staunch defender of the threatened by the large landowners and agribusiness agricultural workers and a consultant to the Pastoral Land Commission (CPT ).

On 10 November of the same year he was appointed Bishop of Goiás. On 2 December 1998, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.
