Tomasz Peta

Tomasz Peta Bernard ( born August 20, 1951 in Inowrocław, Kujawsko -Pomorskie, Poland) is Archbishop of Astana.

Life

Tomasz Peta studied Biblical Studies at the seminary of the Archdiocese of Gniezno and Pastoral Theology in Warsaw. He received on 5 June 1976, the priesthood and was active in pastoral ministry. In 1990 he moved as a priest in the parish of Mary Queen of Peace in Oziornoe in Kazakhstan; Moreover, he was dean of the northern pastoral region.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Apostolic Administrator in 1999 in Astana. In 2001 he appointed him Titular Bishop of Benda and donated him on 19 March 2001 in St. Peter's episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Cardinal Sodano and Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, prefect of the Congregation for Bishops.

In 2003 he was appointed by John Paul II to survey the Governorship to the archbishopric for the first archbishop of the Archdiocese of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Astana.
