Tomikazu Fukuda

Tomikazu Fukuda (Japanese福田 富 一, Fukuda Tomikazu; born May 21, 1953 in Imaichi (now Nikko ), Tochigi Prefecture) is a Japanese politician and governor of Tochigi Prefecture since 2004.

Life

Fukuda worked since 1972 after graduating high school for the prefectural government. In 1979 he completed his studies at the Faculty of Engineering of Nihon University. In 1981, he finally left the prefectural government and opened an office for architecture, planning and the preparation of applications to the management ( Gyosei Shoshi ).

1983 Fukuda was elected for the first of two terms in the city council of Utsunomiya. In 1990 he moved at a by-election in the prefecture of Parliament, for which he was re-elected in 1991 and 1995. He also served as Chairman of the Committees for Economic Planning and trade promotion. In 1999, he was mayor of Utsunomiya. In his second term he came back in 2004 to compete against Governor Akio Fukuda.

In the gubernatorial election on November 28, 2004 Tomikazu Fukuda could ( 426,666.525 votes [ Note 1 ] ) suggest, with the support of the LDP and Kōmeitō Akio Fukuda ( 302,776.427 votes) and a severed JCP candidates. In 2008 he was re-elected with 84% of the votes against only a communist candidate for a second term.
