Toms International

The Toms Gruppen A / S is the largest Danish manufacturer of confectionery, based in Ballerup near Copenhagen.

History

Toms was founded in 1924 by pharmacists Hans Trojel and Victor Hans Meyer in Copenhagen. The name derives from the initials of their surnames ( Trojel and Meyer, Danish Trojel og Meyer). 1925 production was recorded. The range initially comprised candies, caramel and chewing gum, and later also chocolate was added.

1942 Toms was taken over by entrepreneur Victor B. beach. 1954 began the construction of the Toms Group through the acquisition of the confectionery manufacturer Anthon Berg. Other acquisitions have included Pingvin licorice in 1962, Galle & Jessen in 1971 and the Swedish WEBES 2002. In April 2012, the Bremen confectioner Hachez was acquired including the brand Feodora.

Products

The range of Toms primarily includes chocolate in the form of chocolates, chocolate bars and tablets ( including the one in Denmark very popular Yankie Bar ). In addition, many products are offered under different brand names, including Anthon Berg (chocolate, marzipan ), Nellie Dellies (wine gums and liquorice ), Pingvin ( licorice ), Ga - Jol ( licorice and chewing gum) and Spunk ( licorice ).

The 1962 -based factory and administration building in Ballerup, designed by the renowned architect and designer Arne Jacobsen. The multiple advanced factory with a production of about 15,000 tons per year Denmark's largest chocolate factory.
